COP16 Chris Huhne To Cancun Leave Early
Tomorrows vote on Tuition Fees is having an impact beyond the shores of Britain, as Ed Miliband wont allow Chris Huhne and a Labour MP to “pair up”; pairing up is where the parties cooperate and because an MP can’t be there for a vote, the opposition pair the MP’s up so they cancel each others vote.
This really is a win win situation as Chicken Little will have to leave the farce in Cancun to vote which means he can’t be involved in any more crackpots schemes involving wind turbines and the non existent Green jobs lie.
Labour is refusing to provide the support necessary to allow the climate change secretary, Chris Huhne, to stay at key United Nations climate change talks in Mexico.
Ed Miliband, the Labour leader, is refusing to pair the minister with one of his own MPs for tomorrow’s vote on tuition fees. Pairing is an arrangement where an MP of one party agrees with an MP of an opposing party not to take part in a particular vote.
Such an arrangement would have cancelled out the effect of Huhne’s absence in tomorrow’s crucial vote.
Guess Ed Milibands priorities have changed from saving the world to saving the Labour Party.
A spokesman for Miliband confirmed he was refusing to provide the pair, saying Huhne was only needed in Westminster because his government was struggling to get unpopular legislation through parliament.
But environmentalists are concerned the political tug of war will have damaging consequences for the negotiations. Huhne is currently leading on the extension of commitments made in the Kyoto protocol.
He is said to be battling with Japan, which wants to end developed countries’ commitment to the binding targets.
