Climate Change Scam Prediction Fail – About These Climate Refugees

The picture that symbolises the predicted plight of nations that would become climate refugees

One of the all time favourite scary fear stories of the warming alarmists has long been the rising sea levels because of glacial meltdown, billions made homeless because of rising seas and whole nations becoming climate refugees.

The picture of the Maldives government holding a Cabinet Meeting underwater became synonymous with the aquatic Armageddon being predicted by the warming alarmists, but as usual all was not what it seemed to be:

Even as these pictures were being used to hammer home the fear message, the Maldives Government were in negotiations with a Hong Kong company of architects for the design of a new airport for the Islands, an airport designed to take increased tourist traffic for the next 25 years.

Someone is being scammed here and the scam is known about by the people pushing the warming alarmist agenda and they are redistributing wealth to poorer countries in return for the power and control of one world government.

In 2005, the United Nations Environment Programme predicted that climate change would create 50 million climate refugees by 2010. These people, it was said, would flee a range of disasters including sea level rise, increases in the numbers and severity of hurricanes, and disruption to food production.

The UNEP even provided a handy map. The map shows us the places most at risk including the very sensitive low lying islands of the Pacific and Caribbean.

It so happens that just a few of these islands and other places most at risk have since had censuses, so it should be possible for us now to get some idea of the devastating impact climate change is having on their populations. Let’s have a look at the evidence:

Nassau, The Bahamas – The 2010 national statistics recorded that the population growth increased to 353,658 persons in The Bahamas. The population change figure increased by 50,047 persons during the last 10 years.

St Lucia:

The island-nation of Saint Lucia recorded an overall household population increase of 5 percent from May 2001 to May 2010 based on estimates derived from a complete enumeration of the population of Saint Lucia during the conduct of the recently completed 2010 Population and Housing Census.

Population 2002, 81755

Population 2010, 88311

Solomon Islands:

The latest Solomon Islands population has surpassed half a million – that’s according to the latest census results.

It’s been a decade since the last census report, and in that time the population has leaped 100-thousand.

Meanwhile, far from being places where people are fleeing, no fewer than the top six of the very fastest growing cities in China, Shenzzen, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhuhai, Puning and Jinjiang, are absolutely smack bang within the shaded areas identified as being likely sources of climate refugees.

Now 10 years on the places identified by UNEP as those areas that would be depopulated, are in fact those who populations are increasing.

Hat Tip to Aardvark’s favorite southern belle @theRealExTex for story.

  1. Be interesting to see what Bermuda is reporting. It is very low in the sea, naturally, and ship’s captains
centuries ago, got wrecked on the coral reefs surrounding it. Now they can’t visually see it until near it.
I lived there so can testify I think the highest point where I lived was only about 150ft above sea level.
Heaps of expensive villas right on the water.

Also Lord Monckton is having a go re Australia and carbon tax. He reckons Gillard will give 699 million
to the UN for their Green Fund. News to me, supposed to be giving it back to the Nation? One World
    Government here we come

  2. Interesting article

So-called environmentally induced migration is multi-level problem. According to Essam El-Hinnawi definition form 1985 environmental refugees as ―those people who have been forced to leave their traditional habitat, temporarily or permanently, because of a marked environmental disruption (natural or triggered by people) that jeopardised their existence and/or seriously affected the quality of their life. The fundamental distinction between `environmental migrants` and `environmental refugees` is a standpoint of contemporsry studies in EDPs.

According to Bogumil Terminski it seems reasonable to distinguish the general category of environmental migrants from the more specific (subordinate to it) category of environmental refugees.

Environmental migrants, therefore, are persons making a short-lived, cyclical, or longerterm change of residence, of a voluntary or forced character, due to specific environmental factors. Environmental refugees form a specific type of environmental migrant.

Environmental refugees, therefore, are persons compelled to spontaneous, short-lived, cyclical, or longer-term changes of residence due to sudden or gradually worsening changes in environmental factors important to their living, which may be of either a short-term or an irreversible character.

    • Like when a bunch of green wheenies kill the industry where you work and lived all your life that now you have to pack up, sell shop and look for greener pastures.
