Wind Turbines – Apparently The Isle Of Wight Has It’s Own Climate
Yet another planning application for wind turbines has been rejected, this time on appeal.
REG power had wanted to build 3 of the 125 metre tall bird choppers on Cheverton Down, an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Isle of Wight.
On Tuesday national planning inspector John Woolcock announced he had dismissed the appeal:
“I have found the proposed development would, on its own merits, have an unacceptable effect on the landscape, the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and heritage assets, and would have conflict with the development plan and relevant national planning policy.”
REG Power, formerly Cornwall Light and Power are none to happy, as they have seen their dreams of milking all of us for the tax payer funded subsidies for wind power, blow away like so many Global Warming predictions.
Matt Olley, Development Manager for REG Windpower, formerly known as Cornwall Light and Power, said: “Along with the project’s many local supporters, we are extremely disappointed with this decision.
“Not only could the 9MW wind farm have spearheaded the fight against dangerous climate change on the Island, but a significant sum would have been available to support local good causes through a Community Fund.
So Matt Olley unless the Isle of Wight has its own climate in microcosm, much like the Eden Project, how could your wind farm actually make one direct iota of difference to the Isle of Wight which shares the same atmosphere we all do.
The significant sum to support local good causes failed to sweeten the objections, it would be interesting to know what percentage of tax payer subsidy REG power were planning to return to the community for good causes.
