Norfolk Police Close Climategate Investigation

Norfolk Police have been investigating Climategate, the leaking of emails from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in November 2009.

Climategate did a huge amount of damage to the warming alarmists and the UN with their Agenda 21.

Now after 3 years Norfolk Police have closed their investigation into the leaking of the CRU emails:

The Norfolk Constabulary has closed its investigation into the November 2009 release of private emails between researchers at the Climatic Research Centre (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich after failing to identify those responsible. Despite not being able to prosecute any offenders, the police have confirmed that the data breach “was the result of a sophisticated and carefully orchestrated attack on the CRU’s data files, carried out remotely via the internet”. The investigation has also cleared anyone working at or associated with UEA from involvement in the crime.

“Despite detailed and comprehensive enquiries, supported by experts in this field, the complex nature of this investigation means that we do not have a realistic prospect of identifying the offender or offenders and launching criminal proceedings within the time constraints imposed by law,” said Julian Gregory, the senior investigating officer on the case, which had been code-named Operation Cabin. “The international dimension of investigating the World Wide Web especially has proved extremely challenging.”

The warming alarmists and their propaganda outlets have long maintained that Climategate did no significant damage to the Anthropogenic Global Warming scam, this is not a view shared by the vice chancellor of the University of East Anglia:

“We are naturally disappointed that those responsible for this crime have not been caught and brought to justice,” said Edward Acton, UEA’s vice chancellor, in a statement. “The misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating following the publication of the stolen emails – including the theory that the hacker was a disgruntled UEA employee — did real harm to public perceptions about the dangers of climate change.”

It will be interesting to see how many pro AGW media outlets mention that little gem, given that the vice chancellor is probably one of the best placed people to know if Climategate did do any damage to the Green cause.

No mention of the CRU would be complete with out Phil Jones, who like the Climategate hackers, will escape prosecution because of a 6 month statute of limitations on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), where it bizarrely takes more than 6 months for a prosecution to brought, effectively making the FOIA toothless for dealing with people like Jones.

  1. Why no prosecution of Phil Jones and the others for at the very least misuse of public funds?

  2. David N Ardmore

I love Acton’s line, ““The misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating following the publication of the stolen emails – including the theory that the hacker was a disgruntled UEA employee — did real harm to public perceptions about the dangers of climate change.”

The scam artists’ own confidential statements and clear intent to mis-inform the public was what damaged their perception of climate change. If Acton can’t man up and take action against the people who continue to build crises using false data, or manipulate data to fit their STUPID agenda, then he shouldn’t be trusted to speak on behalf of any public or private entity.

    Wow, these folks are arrogant!
