Greenpeace And Their Policy Of Lies And Deceit

Greenpeace activists shut down Shell petrol stations earlier this week as part of their fabircated campaign of lies and deceit aimed at stopping exploration of the Arctic

On Monday 16th July Greenpeace activists briefly shutdown a number of Shell petrol stations in London an Edinburgh, as a protest at Shells plans to prospect for oil in the Arctic.

Greenpeace’s Sara Ayech said: “The oil giant Shell is preparing, for the first time, to unleash a drilling fleet of huge vessels upon the fragile and beautiful Arctic, home of the polar bears.

No Green prophecy of environmental Armageddon in the Arctic would be complete without involving Ursus Maritimus, not only is Anthropogenic Global Warming killing off the polar bear in Green reality world, it is also making polar bears shrink.

Polar bear numbers are rising and have been for some years now:

The latest government survey of polar bears roaming the vast Arctic expanses of northern Quebec, Labrador and southern Baffin Island show the population of polar bears has jumped to 2,100 animals from around 800 in the mid-1980s.

As recently as three years ago, a less official count placed the number at 1,400.

The Inuit have always insisted the bears’ demise was greatly exaggerated by scientists doing projections based on fly-over counts, but their input was usually dismissed as the ramblings of self-interested hunters.

The Green meme is that polar bears are dying out so given the choice of cherry picking scientific (sic) data from irregular flybys or listening to the indigenous people actually on the ground, the Greens will naturally dismiss anything that does  not support their endless  fear, doom and gloom scenarios.

The desperation of the whole Green environmental movement to stop any further progress is best outlined by the current Greenpeace campaign to stop exploration of the Arctic, those of a charitable disposition could view the campaign as a series of interconnected hoaxes to draw attention to Shells plans, however most people would view Greenpeace’s actions as an attempt to lie, deceive and mislead the public and politicians.

First off was this spoof video produced by Greenpeace.

The video was reported widely in the media, gaining half a million views within a day of its release. Then it was revealed as a hoax, a publicity stunt organised by Greenpeace in collaboration with The Yes Men and Occupy Seattle.

Then matters escalated further, with a series of intimidating legal threats sent to bloggers. Warning that “lawyers operating on behalf of Royal Dutch Shell plc. (Shell) are considering formal action,” over the counterfeit campaign launch, an email from Shell’s PR department told bloggers and journalists that: “Shell is monitoring the spread of potentially defamatory material on the internet and reporters are advised to avoid publishing such material.” A jolly good Streisanding seemed imminent, until the threats turned out to be just another layer of the hoax.

Soon after, links began appearing to, supposedly the “social media hub” for the “Let’s Go! Arctic” campaign. “We at Shell are committed to not only recognize the challenges that climate change brings,” the introduction declares, “but to take advantage of its tremendous opportunities. And what’s the biggest opportunity we’ve got today? The melting Arctic.” The site allows members of the public to suggest their own captions for Shell advertisement, displaying the unfortunate results in a gallery of user submissions. Another hilarity-inducing epic Shell PR fail? Nope, another cynical Greenpeace hoax.

What Greenpeace did here was to create a fake scandal and then lie about it, which is par for the course in the Great Global Warming Scam.

The real villain here is Greenpeace. This is an NGO that thinks it is acceptable to lie to the public, to lie to bloggers and journalists, and to then intimidate writers with threatening emails warning of legal action. This absolutely is not okay. I don’t care if you’re saving the Arctic, rescuing kittens from YouTube’s vicious pet-celebrity training camps, or training pandas to pull famine-ridden children out of earthquake debris; to behave in this deceitful way demonstrates an astonishing amount of contempt for the public – not least for environmentalist supporters who spread their message in good faith only to find themselves forced into embarrassing retractions.

Greenpeace did a blog on the campaign back in June and some of the people making comments in the last 24 hours are less than impressed at the deception:

There goes my trust in yet another organisation that claims to speak the direct, honest truth. There are plenty of genuinely awful things being done to the planet right now that deserve credulous, unhampered attention. Why would you distract from that with a campaign that undermines your own credibility? What a waste.

seaotterAU says:

As one of the posts at the SGU forum put it, decades of building trust and goodwill, blown in an instance.

nickandrew says:

Thanks for confirming that you guys are assholes.

Let me just reiterate – fabricating Shell’s PR blunders is an asshole move and doesn’t endear anybody to your organisation or its goals. Did you run out of legitimate criticisms?

Simon says:

I wonder what Greenpeace donors will make of their money being used in this way. I wouldn’t be surprised if donations drop significantly, perhaps accompanied by a concerted attempt to claw them back.

Greenpeace ceased to be an environmental NGO years ago, the lip service paid to hugging trees and bothering badgers is just so much smoke mirrors to hide their real mission, the same mission that Friends of the Earth and the WWF also share, implementation of Agenda 21 and the imposition of the Green hell of sustainable development on a world that does not want it.

It is little wonder that co-founder Dr Patrick Moore walked away from Greenpeace,  in his book Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist,  Dr Moore explains why he left the organisation he helped found,  and exposes the way the Greens work.

The Green hate and smear machine has already sprung into action,  Dr Moore is now in the desmogblog disinformation database, along with Fritz Vahrenholt, but as yet James Lovelock has not been included for his comments on the meaningless Green drivel that these political environmentalists endlessly spout.

  1. I didn’t know about DeSmogBlog’s database. Many thanks for the link – it’s a great resource containing interesting information on over 210 climate realists. That’s nearly three times as many as the “97% of scientists” who agree with the AGW consensus. I will now be able to quote the statistic that 288% of scientists disagree.

And let us not forget the immortal words of Greenpi$$ communications director Gene Hashmi:

“We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

And we be many, but you be few.”

    Such nice people.

  3. Always makes me laugh when the crusties protest at petrol stations. They still haven’t realised that these are independent retail outlets and are not owned by BP, Shell or any of the oil comapnies whose product is available on the forecourt.
