COP18 Day 4 Mistrust And Divides Continue To Grow

Chinese lead negotiator Su Wei “failure in the Long term Cooperative Action is bad news for a longer term deal”
Day 4 and COP18 struggles on in an ever growing climate of mistrust about the host nations position on climate change, accusations of delaying and stalling tactics by some countries and anger regarding the choice of the COP19 host nation, Poland.
The current impasse revolves around the Long term Cooperative Action (LCA) and the need for an agreement, without this agreement the 2015 plan to reduce emissions will not happen.
The negotiators are rushing to complete a draft before the Ministers fly in to Doha on Monday: Read the rest of this entry
COP18 Day 3 And The Host Country For COP19 Will Be Poland
Life is full of surprises, like holding a UNFCCC COP meeting in Qatar, one of the worlds largest natural gas producers and as far as the Greens and ecomentalists are concerned, a country with an ambiguous position on Anthropogenic Global Warming.
The environmental circus in Doha is full of mistrust and suspicion of the COP18 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah who is a supporter of the evil Shale Gas, so the choice of Poland for next Conference of the Parties (COP) 19 is quite frankly bizarre.
Poland’s position on Climate Change is most definitely not ambiguous, Poland has consistently blocked further attempts by the EU and Connie Hedegaard to implement their Green Dream: Read the rest of this entry
COP18 Day 2 The Elephant In The Room Is Shale Gas

COP18 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah’s statement that Shale Gas was good for the world is hanging over COP18 causing tension, mistrust and suspicion.
There is one giant fracking elephant in the COP18 room, Shale Gas, and the statement by the COP18 President earlier this month that Shale Gas was good for the world.
The first day of COP18 ended with a climate of parnoia, mistrust and suspicion, Day 2 is seeing the mistrust of the host nation continuing to grow.
The problem is that no one seems to know where the Qataris actually stand on the de-carbonisation aims of the conference, Qatar is a massive producer of natural gas, their deputy Prime Minster Al-Attiyah is an enthusiastic supporter of Shale Gas and President of COP18, but their satellite news channel Al Jazeera has been pumping out Al Gore style Climate Reality fear stories in the run up to COP18. COP18 Day 1 Paranoia, Mistrust & Failure Abound
The UNFCCC COP18 opened in Doha today, though the event passed with hardly a mention from most MSM outlets, the Guardian of course rallied to the cause with 2 posts, the first a diatribe of loathing about rich countries and the west, the other was pushing for something that always quickens the pulse, and sets the knees trembling of the average warming alarmist, a new Green tax, this time on emissions from ships.
COP18 is a curious beast, there is no doubt that attendance is down from previous COPs like COP15 in Copenhagen, then there was the very strange announcement from COP18 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah earlier this month that “Shale Gas was good for the world“.
The Green NGOs like Greenpeace, WWF and FoE have already picked up on the Shale Gas statement and are crying about it, then there is the internecine fighting between various factions of the warming alarmists none of which is leading to an atmosphere of trust and goodwill for the negotiations: Read the rest of this entry
WWF “David Cameron Must Break His Silence On Climate Change”
The world was a different place in 2006, the Anthropogenic Global Warming fad was still new and shiny, when the WWF took then leader of Her Majesty’s opposition David “Call me Dave” Cameron to Svalbard to see the effects of man made global warming in the Arctic.
Cameron like any other vote seeking politician saw the Green fear stories of man made environmental holocaust as a vote winner, and before long Dave was bothering huskies, putting wind turbines on his roof and having the Conservative Party logo changed to a green tree; Vote Blue Go Green was the crass logo on Conservative Party T-shirts of the time.
Cameron along with Ed Miliband, Gordon Brown and many other leading politicians were instrumental in crafting and getting the disastrous Climate Change Act 2008 passed by Parliament.
When the Vichy coalition government was formed Dave was going to be the “fourth minister” at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Read the rest of this entry
Green Philosopher – Plants Have Rights As Well
Remember the Guardian (August 2011) and the aliens watching the obscene levels of CO2 being emitted by us carbon based bipedal life forms?
“Green” aliens might object to the environmental damage humans have caused on Earth and wipe us out to save the planet. “These scenarios give us reason to limit our growth and reduce our impact on global ecosystems. It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets,” the authors write.
An absolute classic of ludicrousness if there ever were one, however Michael Marder has gone one better with Plants Rights, which is a spin off of the Animal Rights movement: Read the rest of this entry
