Enviornmentalists Should Use Emotion, Not Science, To Convince Others Of Global Warming
A cynic would most probably argue, rightly it must be said, that for years those with an obsessive fear of CO2 have been using emotion suitably laced with cherry picked junk science to convince others of their beliefs.
The emotion most favoured by Gaia’s disciples is fear, their stories always follow the same plot line, could and probably, now mean will most definitely happen, and we should all be terrified of the outcome of their predictions.
That to date not one single Green doomsday scenario has come to pass matters not to the warming alarmists, previously failed predictions are swept under the responsibly sourced bamboo matting and a new cry of Green wolf shrilly broadcast.
How many times has the Arctic going to be ice free by this date and then that date?
All the fear stories and junk science have failed to carry the message to the masses, now Environmentalist George Marshall believes he has the answer halt the decline in Climate Religion:
To convince people that global warming is a threat, use “your personal conviction as a friend, colleague or neighbor” to make your case — avoid using scientific arguments.
“Speak openly of your personal ownership of your convictions,” said Marshall, who founded the Climate Outreach and Information Network and is the author of the book “Don’t Even Think About It: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Ignore Climate Change.”
As the saying goes you can fool all of the people some of the time, well the Greens had their all of the people moment some years back, all that is left now for those that are always fooled is to convince others of their Religious beliefs.
“Say, ‘This is what’s important to me, and this is why.’ Don’t get caught up in the scientific discussion. You’re not a scientist, and evidence doesn’t persuade people who reject climate change. What carries power is your personal conviction as a friend, colleague or neighbor.”
Much like Jehovah’s Witnesses at your front door pontificating about their religious beliefs and convictions, not a single shred of science to support their convictions and belief system.
Stephan Lewandowsky of the University of Bristol says that one way to convince people that global warming is a problem is to tell them about all the new diseases they could get if nothing is done to stem rising global temperatures.
“Mosquitoes now live at higher altitudes and spread farther from the tropics than they used to,” Lewandowsky said, “and diseases like malaria and dengue are migrating from the equator.”
Poor old could, getting abused again as an absolute.
“Large areas of the world will be submerged,” Lewandowsky explains, “and residents of Bangladesh and Pacific island nations won’t drown silently: They will migrate. Refugees sow the seeds for conflict.”
It is Lewandowsky’s personal belief that large areas of the world will be submerged, despite observed empirical evidence showing that global sea levels have remained largely static for the last 100 years.
Pushing personal beliefs over reality is dangerous ground as history shows us.
In the mid 20th Century in Germany a madman with a Charlie Chaplin mustache had a belief and a conviction that Jews and Slavs were untermensch, he passionately told his of his beliefs and convictions to anyone who would listen, while his scientists came up with junk science to prove his beliefs and convictions.
