EU Energy Commissioner Calls EU 2030 Emissions Targets Stupid Or Arrogant

European Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger – “It is becoming increasingly questionable whether our pioneering activities can be financed when the rest of the world does not follow suit”

It is just one month into 2014 and the decline in the Anthropogenic Global Warming boondoggle within the European Union continues, this time with visible splits in the EU Commission on Energy.

European Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger has called the latest EU climate ambition for 2030 emissions targets “stupid or arrogant“, this is not the first time that Oettinger has broken ranks with the EU Green cabal. Last year Oettinger pointed out that there is no mileage in the leading the way with Green policies that kill jobs and make energy unaffordable, the rest of the world is not going to follow the EU’s lead and commit economic suicide.

The latest Green stupidity from the EU commission is to cut Greenhouse gas emissions 40% from 1990 levels by 2030, in plans announced last week.

Is This The End For Hedegaard And The EU Emissions Trading Scheme

Things are starting to slide for unelected EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard, the rot set in prior to COP18 with EU officials saying that Hedegaards pushing for emissions cuts of 30% as fanciful thinking, next Hedegaard and her opposition to shale gas was ignored and now her plan to save the EU ETS has failed.

The European Unions climate change policy is at the point of collapse, the carbon floor price has crashed through the floor to an all time low of €2.63 a metric ton, after MEPs voted against “backloading” the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

The EU ETS has been in crisis for years, there was a huge €5bn VAT fraud, then the computer systems were hacked and down for weeks, the price of carbon globally has been in free fall and backloading was the last ditch attempt to save the ETS.

Backloading is essentially withholding from sale 900 million carbon permits in an attempt to drive up the price of carbon which continues to fall due to the economic problems and decline in manufacturing in the EU.

Commissar Connie described backloading as “no brainer”, ignoring the obvious irony of such a statement, Hedegaard had put her all her political clout behind backloading, the rejection by the EU Parliament is a decisive blow to Hedegaard and the Green Agenda she relentlessly pushes.

EU Commission President Jose Manual Barroso wants Europe to lead the way in committing economic suicide by 2030.

It has as they say, all been downhill for the warming alarmists since the catastrophic failure of the COP15 UN climate circus meeting at Copenhagen in 2009, the last meeting, COP18 in Doha, held in November was the biggest failure to date.

The Kyoto Protocol expired at the end of December 2012, when COP18 ended not one major emitter had singed up for any new form of Kyoto, and the few countries that did underwent a rapid mind change within days.

As 2013 began Russia announced that it will never sign up to a new Kyoto treaty, the same goes for Canada who left the original Kyoto Protocol, the US, Brazil, China and India have yet to publicly adopt the same position as Russian and Canada, but their actions amount to the same.

The truth that the great man made climate change scam is mostly over is proving unpalatable to the Greens, the observed empirical evidence is so far removed from the Green Armageddon narrative, it is little wonder that the scam has come apart, yet for some they continue to marshal the Green doom sayings from years ago about rising temperatures, rising sea levels and ice free polar regions as absolute truths that the world must act on.

2012 was going to be a good year for unelected EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard, January 1st saw the imposition of the EU’s Green tax on flying, in June Rio+20 held the promise of reigniting the climate superstition and fear of 20 years earlier and Hedegaard was pushing all out for the complete de-industrialisation of Europe with a bigger 30% emissions cutting target.

In June Rio+20 failed to achieve anything, despite the prolific use of the sustainable development meme, 20 years of failed environmental Armageddon events and Green politically correct science saw the  much hyped Earth Summit fail.

In response Comrade Connie along with the sheep of the tabloid warming alarmist movement embraced event attribution, despite the very climate scientists and organisations so often quoted by the Greens, warning against attributing weather events to Anthropogenic Global Warming.

EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard is looking increasingly isolated from the other EU Commissars about Carbon Targets and the de-industrialisation of Europe, for Hedegaard it is business as usual while she ignores the economic realities of Green stupidity.

The first signs of the EU distancing itself from Green Climate stupidity happened at the UN  pre COP18 meeting in Bangkok last month, where Hedegaard was pushing for a 30% cut in EU CO2 emissions, while EU officials described even a 25% cut as fancilful thinking.

The next set back for Hedegaard came again in September when the US conclusively said no to the EU Green flying tax, Hedegaards response was to jump on the Global Warming Extreme Weather event attribution band wagon, at the very time when the warming alarmist journal Nature concluded that climate science was too immature to link extreme weather with Anthropogenic Global Warming.

First the House of Representatives, now the US Senate have passed a bill that stops US airlines taking part in EU Flying Tax

The Green EU flying tax that came into force on January 1st 2012 has not been a success, the hollow Green lie of there being a global consensus to act on Climate Change, all that is needed is the fine print, has never been more hollow, as the global reaction to EU’s unilateral flying tax has shown.

From the outset there were rumblings of a Trade War from China, as the row progressed, so China froze deals for new aircraft with EU Aircraft Manufacturer Airbus worth around US$ 14bn.

The EU Flying Tax has been seen around the world as the EU imposing a unilateral tax on flying to try to get additional funds to try to stop the sinking Eurozone, from sinking.

The EU’s unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard is at it again, pushing fear stories of extreme weather events, naturally caused by Anthropogenic Global Warming of course.

Hedegaard it is worth remembering was responsible for hosting and preparing COP Climategate 15 before being appointed EU Climate Commissar, so she is hardly impartial when it comes to pushing the Global Agrarian Society.

Another setback for Connie Hedegaard, the EU flying Tax is set to be suspended

January 1st 2012 the EU announced that it was unilaterally imposing a flying tax on all flights in, and out of the European Union.

The news of the EU Carbon tax on flying was greeted with global hostility, even before the tax became law China was warning of a trade war with the EU, by January 5th 40 Nations were opposed to the Green taxation, and by early February 2012 China and India had both decided not to submit any data to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

In March this year, Germany increasingly nervous about the economic impact of the EU flying tax was telling the EU to abandon the tax, even Barack Obama has called on the EU to abandon the “Lousy Tax Carbon Tax on Airlines“
