Communicating Climate Change Without The Scary Green Monsters (Oxymoron)

Big Green is wondering again if the stories of scary Green monsters are really working with the public in the developed world. They have wondered this before, but the problem is their political agenda is founded on fear.

If you cry wolf as the fable goes people listen, if however, you keep crying wolf and the wolf never turns up and eats the sheep then eventually people cease to listen.

Here is the crux of the problem facing the Green propaganda machine, not one of their Green Armageddon scenarios has ever come pass, the Arctic was going to ice free by 2012, when that failed happen the date changed to 2020 and then moved on to 2058.

Our children would not know what snow was, there were 50 days to save the world which eventually evolved into 120 months to save the world.

It was Climategate that did the damage to the Green Dream, and in the years since then, the fear stories have been ramped up, where  every extreme weather event is immediately linked to Anthropogenic Global Warming, by the new Green science of attribution.

Attribution is a simple science that most people can comprehend, it goes like this everything that has ever happened, or will happen in the future is caused by man made climate change.

In reality it is the science of predictive fear, underlined by the hope a major natural disaster will occur, and that the Greens can profit from the ensuing human misery.  Puts a whole new slant on “I told you so.”

Warmists Already Lowering Expectations For 2015 COP21 Agreement

The road map to COP21, note the beginning of the end of fossil fuel use scheduled for 2016.

There was a departure last year at COP19 with the warming alarmist industry scaling down the expectations of exactly what COP19 would achieve, which was just well, because in addition to being the 5th successive UNFCCC COP meeting in a row to crash and burn, COP19 showed the cracks appearing in the Green agenda.

All the Green NGOs and other self proclaimed representatives of civil society, walked out of the meeting when the western world refused to pay trillions of dollars in so called “Climate Justice” money. The cake was then truly iced with an awesome bout of name calling between Venezuela and the EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard, who blamed Hedegaard not only for the failure of COP19, but also COP15.

The spectre of COP15 haunts the warming alarmist pysche, the high water mark of Green ambition, it has all been downhill since 2009.

So ingrained into the Green collective memory is COP15, they now believe that politicians will not reach a meaningful deal because they are frightened of having another COP15 debacle at COP21.

The COP19 Climate Circus has finally ended, despite the Greens and wealth re-distributors setting the bar for success this year, even lower than in previous years, COP19 still failed to deliver.

The pattern for acrimony was set at COP15, Copenhagen in 2009 and in each successive COP meeting the acrimony and bickering has got worse, culminating in the unelected Green NGOs walking out of COP19 after the wealth re-distribution scam know as loss and damage failed to gain much traction.

COP19 was a disaster, just as much on the global stage as in the stadium in Warsaw.

Overshadowed by coal in Poland, 60 countries did not send ministers to COP19 thus preventing any global agreement from being signed, Australia and Canada said they were not going to give any more money away, Japan decided to reduce its CO2 ambitions drastically and in Britain David “Call me Dave” Cameron was oozing snake oil and possibly muttering darkly about Green Crap.

Against this background COP19 headed into overtime and at the eleventh hour, for the fifth successive time, produced an agreement that was worth less than the paper it was printed on.

One of the joys of the failure of any socialist scheme is the apportionment of blame for the failure, every scheme needs a Stalin style scapegoat for when it all goes to hell in a handcart.

Enter the new Green scapegoat blamed not only for the failure of COP19, but COP15 as well, the one and only EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard.

In an amusing and ironical twist Comrade Connie, a great exponent of the junk science of attribution where by everything that has ever happened, might happen or will happen is attributed to Anthropogenic Global Warming, is now having the same attribution logic applied to her.

Only in this case it is a brand new branch of Green science that evolved during the latter stages of COP19, the attribution of COP failure:

The Greens have it in for Australia, following Tony Abbott’s crushing defeat of Julia Gillard’s Labor government and her Green allies in the September General Election, the rollback of Green stupidity down under has begun.

Tony Abbott chose not send Environment Minister Greg Hunt to Warsaw, having him instead stay in Australia to begin the process of removing Gillard’s Carbon Tax.

That’s 5 UNFCCC COP failures in a row, an unprecedented record of failure, each Conference of the Parties has disintegrated faster than the COP that preceded it, with COP19 holding the current record.

There was never any doubt, from the outset that COP19 was going to be the biggest failure since records began, what has been surprising is the speed of that collapse, COP19 was effectively dead before it had begun.

It has just taken 5 days for COP19 to realize it was dead and hit the floor.

The make or break issue for COP19 was “loss and damage“, wealth redistribution to us regular folks and that great Green Socialist Barack Obama made sure that loss and damage was deader than Osama Bin Laden, before COP19 even started.

Typhoon Haiyan has been a terrible human tragedy, the sort of human tragedy that should be above politics, the sort of human tragedy that should not be used to falsely advance a political agenda concerned solely with wealth redistribution.

The Philippines lead Climate Envoy Yeb Sano told COP19 just how much was at stake at COP19:

Sano wept as he told the room of the devastation that Super Typhoon Haiyan has swept through his country, and announced that he would fast throughout the two-week conference “in solidarity with my countrymen who are now struggling for food back home”.

The Filipino delegate said that he would keep this up until “a meaningful outcome is in sight”. This includes concrete pledges to fill up the coffers of the Green Climate Fund, as well as progress on a loss and damage mechanism, and “real ambition on climate action”.

Sano is without any doubt attributing Haiyan to Anthropogenic Global Warming, which is understandable from a man whose country has been severely damaged by the typhoon, but whose message is in direct contradiction to that of the IPCC Chair Rajendra Pachauri

Later today the 19th UN Climate Circus will begin in Warsaw, Poland.

Expectations are low for the outcome of COP19, in a change from previous years where high expectations have been dashed continually, a new tactic of low expectation has appeared where the only way is up.

Most of the major players in the Great Man Made Global Warming boondoggle are aware that it’s all coming apart now, and no one is more aware of this than EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard who is hoping against hope, that the UK will continue to play a strong role in the collective dream of Green economic suicide.
