Latest Green environmental report on flying says ticket prices will need to rise sharply to drive down demand to reduce CO2 emissions.

The environmentalists are back on the air travel theme again, a couple of years after the EU’s failed attempt to introduce a flying tax crashed and burned.

This latest report from the University of Southampton is a classic Green works with the usual suppositions, assumptions, massaged data and the final appeal to authority to enforce the reports findings.

Any campaign be it political or military, depends upon winning the hearts and minds of those you seek to join with you, it is one of the blessings of the human condition that authoritarians have through out history failed to grasp this important point.

Make no mistake about it, Greens and environmentalists are all about authority, they continually want their belief system enforced upon the rest of the population by taxation or law, frequently both.

EU Energy Commissioner Calls EU 2030 Emissions Targets Stupid Or Arrogant

It is just one month into 2014 and the decline in the Anthropogenic Global Warming boondoggle within the European Union continues, this time with visible splits in the EU Commission on Energy.

European Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger has called the latest EU climate ambition for 2030 emissions targets “stupid or arrogant“, this is not the first time that Oettinger has broken ranks with the EU Green cabal. Last year Oettinger pointed out that there is no mileage in the leading the way with Green policies that kill jobs and make energy unaffordable, the rest of the world is not going to follow the EU’s lead and commit economic suicide.

The latest Green stupidity from the EU commission is to cut Greenhouse gas emissions 40% from 1990 levels by 2030, in plans announced last week.

There was a departure last year at COP19 with the warming alarmist industry scaling down the expectations of exactly what COP19 would achieve, which was just well, because in addition to being the 5th successive UNFCCC COP meeting in a row to crash and burn, COP19 showed the cracks appearing in the Green agenda.

All the Green NGOs and other self proclaimed representatives of civil society, walked out of the meeting when the western world refused to pay trillions of dollars in so called “Climate Justice” money. The cake was then truly iced with an awesome bout of name calling between Venezuela and the EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard, who blamed Hedegaard not only for the failure of COP19, but also COP15.

The spectre of COP15 haunts the warming alarmist pysche, the high water mark of Green ambition, it has all been downhill since 2009.

So ingrained into the Green collective memory is COP15, they now believe that politicians will not reach a meaningful deal because they are frightened of having another COP15 debacle at COP21.

The Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard, Greens, Liberals and other beneficiaries of the warming alarmist industry are pushing hard for binding targets for renewable energy for 2030, while on the other side of the argument countries, industry and politicians are against binding targets.

Just before the UNFCCC COP19 climate circus in Warsaw last year, Hedegaard sort of admitted that the EU Climate Policy was not supported by all member states and that some countries are no longer taking part, for example the Czech Republic and Poland, the COP19 hosts. Poland is currently involved in a legal standoff with the EU, which if the EU lost would totally destroy EU Climate Policy in a single stroke.

Enter the new Green scapegoat blamed not only for the failure of COP19, but COP15 as well, the one and only EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard.

In an amusing and ironical twist Comrade Connie, a great exponent of the junk science of attribution where by everything that has ever happened, might happen or will happen is attributed to Anthropogenic Global Warming, is now having the same attribution logic applied to her.

Only in this case it is a brand new branch of Green science that evolved during the latter stages of COP19, the attribution of COP failure:

Expectations are low for the outcome of COP19, in a change from previous years where high expectations have been dashed continually, a new tactic of low expectation has appeared where the only way is up.

Most of the major players in the Great Man Made Global Warming boondoggle are aware that it’s all coming apart now, and no one is more aware of this than EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard who is hoping against hope, that the UK will continue to play a strong role in the collective dream of Green economic suicide.

COP19 Hosts Poland And The Green Standoff With The EU

In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s there was a particularly  cringe making  genre of film called the Musical Western, these movies for a while were very popular, but eventually the camp clothing, the ludicrous plot lines proved too much for audiences, who drifted away from the fad.

Well it should, in the last decade of the 20th Century and the first decade of the 21st Century there was a fad for Climate Religion where the same hair shirt clothing and ludicrous plot lines proved too much for the audience, who drifted away from the fad.

At least the Musical Western had the decency to just fade away from the screens, unlike the UN Climate Process which annually makes a spectacle of its continuing and agonizing death throes, last years event Fear and Loathing in Doha was one of the best Green disaster movies of all time, this year’s event in Poland is set to trump Doha in spades.

When Poland was chosen as COP19 hosts, at COP18 the wailing and whingeing from the Greens started and has continued unabated ever since. The Greens are less than impressed with the COP19 website which is neither Green nor extreme enough for them, Poland has a history of being obstructive to Green plans for economic suicide and most ironically for the Greens, the political consensus on the stupidity of Green measures is shared by both the Left and the Right.

EU Flying Tax – The Return Of The Green Albatross

It is nearly 12 months since Comrade Connie Hedegaard was forced to suspend the EU’s Green flying tax, 12 months on the Green flying tax is still as popular as a skunk in an elevator.

On January 1st 2012 the EU’s Green tax on flying became law, from the outset there was global opposition to the tax which is part of the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

Despite claims to the contrary by the usual Green suspects and Comrade Connie Hedegaard there is no global support for a Green tax on flying, China has threatened a Trade War  over the tax, and the followed the threat up by  freezing orders for Airbus aircraft worth US$ 14bn.

China was not the only voice of opposition to the Green tax, in the USA the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly against participation in the EU scheme, India instructed it’s airlines not to submit Carbon Tax Data to the EU. That was just the tip of the iceberg, there was strong opposition from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Paraguay, Qatar, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and the member States of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC)

Then last November in the biggest Green climb down so far Comrade Connie was forced to suspend the Green flying tax for 12 months:

In the run up to COP18 last November, Hedegaard was pushing fear stories of global climatic apocalypse using the much beloved and completely erroneous, warmist science of event attribution and muttering darkly about the human race being able to select the climate of its own choosing.

Well today sees the launch of an EU campaign, doubtless costing untold millions, called #worldulike the campaign slogan being “A world you like with a climate you like“, there is no mention yet on the web site of turning base metals into gold, but it can only be a question of time:

Having had a month off blogging and really taking no  interest, in the news or the warming alarmists due to being very busy relocating, the decline of the AGW scam is quite amazing, when you read loads of new stories everyday you tend not to particularly notice the gradual decline, until some major event like Climategate or another UNFCC COP failure happens.
