EU Green Agenda Fail – Carbon Capture And Storage

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is another Green technology that is being currently pushed very hard so we can all be saved from Anthropogenic Global Warming.

CCS like all the Green Dream technologies is very expensive, requires huge tax payer funded subsidies and is the usual mix of environmental tokenism and gesture politics that so typifies the Greens.

Britain’s last CCS project was cancelled in October 2011 after the companies involved Scottish Power, Shell and the National Grid, pulled out citing funding issues, in short they wanted more Green subsidies to make the project financially viable, the typical refrain for all things Green, more taxes and ever increasing energy bills.

Never one to let anything deflect her from her Green Agenda, the EU’s unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard and the other european Green fools held a contest to provide funding for CCS:

The warming alarmists take great pride in leading the way, taking the moral high ground, being morally superior in the vain and ill founded hope that other nations will follow their example and commit economic suicide.

The reality is that while one nation commits economic suicide, the others look on in wonderment, Australia’s carbon tax has proved so politically divisive that the Australian Labor Party got hammered at the polls, British Columbia enacted a bold set of climate change policies and assumed others would follow.

Assumptions can frequently be wrong as British Columbia’s environment minister Terry Lake has found out, in a recent interview Lake said: “I think it is safe to say that we expected more jurisdictions to be coming up and joining us in this kind of public policy, that hasn’t happened.”

Leadership on climate change is dangerous and ultimately stupid, it only leads to job losses and energy poverty and now as the Euro crises grinds inexorably onwards, the warming alarmists are becoming concerned that EU is no longer in the vanguard of climate stupidity, Richard Black at the BBC:

The winds of change are blowing through the corridors of power in Europe, the once unassailable and politically correct Green Agenda is getting buffeted from all sides.

Germany once so keen on being Green has found that Greenness costs more money than the Germany economy can afford, the €100 billion solar failure and a looming global trade war over the EU’s illegal Green flying tax have proved too much for Germany, where Climate Change skepticism now abounds.

The EU has until been recently one of the last places on earth where Climate Religion is taken seriously, the Green agenda was relentlessly pursued by former British Climate Change minister Chris Huhne  and unelected EU Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard who wanted ever more stringent emissions legislation in the erroneous and forlorn hope that the rest of the world would follow their idiocy.

The latest proposed EU budget wants to spend €1 trillion on fighting non-existent Anthropogenic Global Warming, this is likely to get a hostile reception from Poland who has already stated it will use its Veto in tomorrow’s meeting of EU Climate Religion ministers:

The UK Met Office has found itself in a very embarrassing position, an avid promoter of the Anthropogenic Global Warming scam, it has had to admit there has been no warming for the last 15 years.

This is seriously bad news for Climate Religion, to call it climate science is to do a major disservice to the many honest and diligent scientists, who actually practice real science.

EU – Fracking Does Not Need More Regulation

One of the last bastions of Climate Religion, the EU, has in a report said that Fracking does not need more environmental legislation for now, though the situation could be reviewed once fracking becomes a wide spread activity.

This is an interesting shift in policy from the EU,  who  a few months ago were  hell bent on stopping fracking, as usage of reliable affordable energy like Shale Gas, would interfere with the sacred CO2 emissions targets.

The chances of the EU becoming isolated from the rest of the world are growing by the day as global opposition mounts to the Green airline tax the EUSSR is planning to implement from January 1st 2012.

The US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly against taking part in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) declaring Congress and the United States government will not support this ill-advised and illegal EU tax scheme.

The EU has effectively done a Gordon Brown and “bottled it”, they have decided to postpone the vote on economic suicide cutting carbon emissions until July.

The actual vote for the postponement was conveniently not recorded so no one has any idea who actually voted for the motion.

Yesterday the EU’s Climate Religion policy took a severe mauling when Poland blocked the insanity known as EU Energy Roadmap 2050, essentially a plan to redraw the map of Europe where countries borders are determined by their renewable energy resources.

According to Chris Huhne its a “Dark day for Europe” which means that one of  his and the EU’s beloved economic suicide pacts emission targets plans have come to a grinding halt, thanks to Poland.

So what is the EU Energy Roadmap 2050?

On the face of it, it’s yet another Green plan for low a carbon Europe, but as with all things from the Church of Climatology there is far more to it than that, countries will change their borders, or in some cases even disappear as the boundaries of a country are defined by its renewable energy resources.

Yesterday my heating stopped working.  After kicking the boiler several times and twiddling with several knobs, I put on more socks and 2 more jumpers and hoped it would start working by itself.  It wasn’t as painful as it sounds, because I was sat on the floor in the kitchen which has under floor heating which was working.  Anyway, it did start working by itself which pleased me greatly.

Then I read something that someone had tweeted on twitter.  The basic premise of the tweet was that unemployed people, like pensioners, should get a cold weather fuel payment.  Although I fundamentally disagree with this, I think maybe disabled people should be considered for one, but I digress. 

What I did start considering was the cost of fuel.
