British Climate Minister – “Solar Energy Subsidies Are Morally Wrong”

Green Party Leader Caroline Lucas "Solar has been too successful – that's why tariffs were cut"

The Greenest Government ever has recently slashed the tax subsidies that are paid to the solar industry, in the face of an increasing outcry from tax payers about the spiralling costs of electricity and gas in Britain.

Within seconds of the news breaking, the Green Harpie and Leader of the Green Watermelon Marxists Party, Caroline Lucas was aflame with righteous indignation that the ludicrous subsidies paid to those that can afford solar panel installations are to be significantly reduced.

Nothing more clearly demonstrates the ever growing political reality that Climate Religion is not a vote winner than this statement from Conservative Climate Minster Greg Barker:

Climate Change Minister Greg Barker this morning told an audience of local councillors that it was “morally wrong” that the feed-in tariff scheme was offering such large returns when it is funded by a levy on everyone’s energy bills.

Prime Minister David Cameron has today side-stepped a call to halt government plans to impose deep and rapid cuts to feed-in tariff incentives for solar photovoltaic installations.

Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, Labour MP for Southampton test Alun Whitehead asked Cameron to intervene in “the appalling chaos” that has been caused by the government’s proposals that within six weeks solar incentives will be effectively halved.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) launched the fast-track consultation on Monday, proposing to cut the level of feed-in tariffs for small- and medium-size projects registered after 11 December.

Barker is entirely correct, it is obviously morally wrong to sentence the old, poorest and weakest members of our country to energy poverty so that Green ecomentalists like Caroline Lucas, Chris Huhne, Greenpeace, WWF, FoE et al can proceed with their Green Marxist agenda; Caroline Lucas writing in the Guardian:

The government landed a body blow to the solar industry this week by announcing that feed-in tariffs to support the installation of solar PV will be more than halved.

Initial reports of an even more drastic cut – from the current rate of 43.3p to 9p, said to be the preferred option of some in government – were leaked out over the past few weeks in what looked very much like pre-emptive spinning to try to take the heat off ministers

That’s 43.3p per KwH as opposed to 2.8 per KwH for gas fired power stations, or 3.9p per KwH for nuclear no wonder energy prices keep rising when solar generated electricity costs 11 times as much as nuclear.

No surprises then why solar was so successful, with a returns of that size, those that could afford the cost of a solar panel installation jumped on the bandwagon for that time honoured human tradition, the profit motive, saving the environment like truth in a war has become the first casuality of making a buck.

While there is a considerable irony in that, inflated subsidies were always a cold a cynically calculated method from the warming alarmists to claim that industry supported their fairy tale of the CO2 Wolf and those companies investing in renewables were doing it solely to save the environment.

The true mindset of the Green Party and Caroline Lucas was brilliantly covered by James Delingpole:

Fascism, Goldberg explains, is not a movement of the political right but of the political left. It is a “religion of the State”.

It is totalitarian in that it views everything as political and holds that any action by the state is justified achieve the common good. It takes responsibility for all aspects of life, including our health and well-being, and seeks to impose uniformity of thought and action, whether by force or through regulation and social pressure.

Now compare this with what Lucas says in the Guardian today:

Of course, much of what we cover in the report is really the responsibility of government. But it is as if the country’s politicians are scared of their own people

It is as if the country’s politicians are scared of their own people, Lucas lets slip her Marxist ideology, in the Green totalitarian state favoured by Lucas the government is feared by the people, it is only in a free democratic country that the government fear the people.
